CQC Inspection Areas

Who Are CQC (Care Quality Commission)?

The CQC is an independent regulator of the Health & Social Care sector in England. The CQC is tasked with registering health and adult social care service providers in England and monitoring that standards are being met by providers through regular inspections.

During an inspection, the CQC inspect five key areas: is the service safe, well led, caring and responsive and is the service effective. The organisation has to provide the CQC with sufficient evidence in support of these five different areas.

Providers are rated on a four-point scale which covers inadequate, requires improvement, good, and outstanding. Outstanding is the highest rating any CQC registered provider can obtain.

What Areas Does The CQC Inspect?

Safe

They check that a service is safe, including whether the service has managed its service well during the pandemic and kept its clients and staff safe throughout, and if the service always provides its staff with sufficient and the right type of PPE.

Checks also take place to ensure that reviews and updates to a client’s service are made to keep the person safe within the comfort of their own home. They ensure that staff are recruited properly and that all necessary checks such as references, and DBS checks are carried out and that staff receive quality and appropriate training. The dispensation of medication to a person is also an area that the inspectors scrutinise carefully to ensure that mistakes are not made.

Well Led

The CQC check that the provider is well led and that the management of the business are committed to providing a level of service which meets the client’s needs. They investigate the ethos and values of the business and confirm that the management team know what they are doing and take steps to ensure that quality control procedures are in place and are monitored and reviewed.

They assess whether the management team are forward thinking and communicate well with their staff. Inspectors often interview employees too and ask for their honest feedback on how they feel about working for the company.

Caring

Robust investigations are made into the behaviours of all staff within the business to ensure that their actions are consistently caring.

Responsive

The inspectors like to see that the service responds well to the needs of their clients and that all clients’ needs, and wishes are met and indeed surpassed.

Effective

The CQC checks that the care agency is doing what it is supposed to do and doing it effectively.

What Areas Does The CQC Inspect?

We are proud that Beloved Homecare is the only homecare provider in Trafford to have an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating. Beloved is also one of four within Greater Manchester to have four or more ‘Outstanding’ ratings in each of the individual areas. The latest inspection was in December 2020 and prior to this the subsequent inspection was in March 2018 which was also rated at ‘Outstanding’.

The outstanding ratings that we have achieved in 2018 and 2020 give our clients reassurance that we are meeting our aims of providing an outstanding homecare and support service which keeps people safe and happy in their own homes at value for money prices.
