What hours do home care assistants usually work?

 

Different home care agencies will provide care in the community during different hours of the day and some, like Beloved Homecare, will even offer their clients 24-hour care services. Although as a company we work around the clock, our core hours are 7 am until 10 pm. Our home care assistants will either work morning/day shifts or evening shifts and they will usually be around 6 hours long. 

 

How much support and supervision do home care assistants get?

 

In addition to the training we provide to our home care assistants, here at Beloved Homecare, we require all new members of our team to complete two weeks’ worth of shadowing. So, as you start your career in the care industry, you will have the support and supervision of an experienced home care assistant. When you begin working independently, our management team is only a call or text away and you will always have help when you need it. 

 

Are there any requirements for this type of role?

 

When applying for a home care assistant role, there will be a few basic requirements that you need to meet and someone will run through these with you during your first informal chat. Two things that all applicants need to have are; a full driving licence and a vehicle. Due to the fact that home care assistants work in the community, you need to be able to drive locally to your clients who require support. 

 

How much time do you spend with each client in the community?

 

Throughout the working day, your visits will vary in length depending on your clients’ individual needs. You will always be provided with enough time to complete the tasks required during your visit to an exemplary standard and you won’t be rushed in this regard. Generally, the more complex a client’s needs, the longer you will spend with them on a day-to-day basis, ensuring they have everything they need. 

 

What home care services do home care assistants provide?

 

The home care services provided will differ from agency to agency, but the vast majority will provide household and domestic care services, personal care services and companionship care services.
