Starting a completely new career can understandably be quite daunting. If you’re a kind and caring person, but you have no previous experience in the care industry, you may be worried about having what it takes to become a healthcare assistant. However, with the right support and guidance, you can make a real difference in your local community.
Here at Beloved Homecare, we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding home care services and ensuring our clients get the care and support they both need and deserve. Therefore, it is essential that every member of our team is brilliant at what they do and we are committed to helping all new healthcare assistants excel in the next chapter of their careers. Whether you currently work in retail, hospitality or administration, we will provide you with all of the training and support you need to become a fantastic healthcare assistant.
3-day training induction
Unlike other home care agencies, we don’t require applicants to have any experience and our care vacancies are open to people with varied professional backgrounds. We provide a fully comprehensive training program to all new healthcare assistants and we will help you to develop your knowledge and skills. So, as long as you have a caring nature, we can teach you how to support a vast range of clients with different needs.
When you first start working with us, you will undertake a 3-day training induction at our office. This induction is perfect for people who have never worked as a healthcare assistant before and it will be really informative. Our experienced team will cover all of the basics you need to know to deliver everything from domestic care services to personal care services, and this induction is ideal for anyone who has no experience in the care industry.
2 weeks shadowing in the community
Once you have completed your training induction, you will then be paired with an experienced healthcare assistant to start getting to grips with your new role. This is a brilliant opportunity to go out into the community and learn more about the different home care services we offer our clients at Beloved Homecare. Shadowing really is a vital part of our training programme.
Regardless of your previous experience, you can learn so much whilst shadowing a member of our team. Not only will these 2 weeks provide you with an insight into what your standard working day will be like as a healthcare assistant, but they will also give you the opportunity to gain useful hands-on experience that can assist you moving forward. The tips and tricks you learn from an experienced healthcare assistant really will be invaluable.
Ongoing support and training
Even once you start working independently in the community, the Beloved Homecare team will be there to support you and help you continue to better yourself. The management team will only ever be a call or a text away if you require assistance during your shift. They can answer any questions you may have about your client’s care plan or required medication, for example, preventing unnecessary stress or worry.
Should you wish to further your career as a healthcare assistant and learn new skills over time, we can also assist you with this. Many of our healthcare assistants have completed additional qualifications whilst working for us, such as end of life courses, and we will support you if you’d like to undertake any other training and development opportunities that come your way.
